Running Buddies

So I have a few running buddies other than Hungry. (although he's the only one to have completed every workout with me)
This is Rembrandt... He's 11 so he's not so much a running buddy as a cool down buddy. But cooling down is important!

This is Isaac Newton or Zeke....He's two and is GREAT running buddy....Loves it and would go forever if I let him!

And for two weeks I have Aislin as a running buddy. Her mom is on vacation so she is staying with us. She is 10 but still loves to run. She also makes me feel really safe running in the dark :-)

Gotta love the running buddies!

Run like the gate was left open

So as life does sometimes...it doesn't go as planned. Instead of running consistently and running the two half marathons I wanted to run as prep.....I ended up in this for 10 weeks....

Yep. Tore a tendon or stretched it or something it didn't like....BUT

He's back....and in his third week of training for the LA Marathon! So far the foot has held up so here goes nothing!
Something I'm trying to live by through this experience.....as long as my foot behaves, I'm doing it, however slow.....There's no halfway (I already missed the half marathons)

This is the motto for this endeavor... My pup Rem kindly posed for it! He's going to meet me at the finish line....

There are Vineyards in Fairfield

Ran up Green Valley Road today. All the way up to the end of the path. Apparently it end. Anyways we saw some grapevines (Yippie!) and some really pretty grassy lands. If only the first mile wasn't straight up a hill!
Saturday 6/8/13
Route: Out Green Valley Road and back with some extra loops
Distance/Time: 6 miles/ 1hr and 15min
Cross training: no
How I felt: Felt pretty crappy the first three miles......Then I started to get into the groove
Thoughts: I think my sport beans may have kicked in about the time I started feeling better.....hmmmmmm

Hungry

This is Hungry!

Awesome name for a running buddy I know. He originally got his name because I thought he looked like the creepy orange monster in the Weight Watchers commercials that used to pop up out of no where. He was riding around hanging from my rear view mirror but he's got himself a new job! He's going to help me train for a marathon.  He is the best running buddy anyone could ask for. (although he's a little quiet) His schedule never conflicts and he never complains. What more could I ask for? This blog is going to be about our journey to in training for different races. Ultimately we hope to run the LA Marathon in March. We have a long way to go to get there!
But this guy is going to meet us at the finish line of every race. So it will all be worth it!
